Safe Fundraising Tips

  • Always sell in company of others - use the buddy system or parental supervision
  • Never enter someone's home
  • Never carry large amount of cash
  • Have parents take fundraiser to work

Selling Tips

  • Have the Principal and faculty endorse and help promote your fundraising efforts  
  • Sell to people you know first - family, friends, co-workers and neighbors
  • Sell to Alumni
  • Be cheerful, courteous, and smile
  • Ask for multiple sales from your customers - Ask them "How many would you like?"
  • Always thank people
  • Keep the price points at a round/even number - don't worry about odd change
  • Decide how much money your organization needs to raise.  This will help you to choose the right products
  • Allow plenty of time for planning for your next fundraiser.  Get your school and community involved in the fundraiser
  • Set certain predetermined dates and keep to them
  • Communicate clearly with all involved.  Remind teachers, parents, and other volunteers about the time frame and goals of the fundraiser
  • Offer a prize!  The prize can be for an individual or for all the members.  Something as simple as a pizza party during class could work

Selecting A Fundraising Company

  • Watch out for hidden costs. Some companies overcharge you for artwork fees, shipping fees, setup fees, etc.
  • Look for companies that offer sample kits. Some companies offer this free and others charge a small handling fee
  • Make sure that you can re-order if needed and can be delivered in a reasonable time frame
